Abstract:

Rechenzentrum Buhre GmbH develops a petrol depot administration and dispatch system (Open Terminal Administration System). Part of this system is the control for loading and unloading these depots. With increasing complexity the system’s set-up of this system gets more and more difficult, so that new software components have to be tested before they can be installed. For these tests the hard- and software of the real system cannot be used, or tests are forbidden because they might disturb the running operations. An approach background to test new components is the simulation of the real system. Against this this paper discusses general concepts of isolation and simulation. A system is developed that simulates components of OpenTAS so that new software components can be tested by using the interfaces and ressources of the simulated system. The goal of this paper is to find out if a simulation is able to test software components.
